Kings’ Richaun Holmes drawing interest from Raptors, Hornets
Nell Redmond-USA TODAY Sports

The Toronto Raptors and Charlotte Hornets are among the teams expressing trade interest in Sacramento Kings forward/center Richaun Holmes, per Shams Charania of The Athletic.

Holmes, 27, is having a strong season and seemingly has been one of the most-discussed players in the NBA heading into Thursday’s deadline. He is averaging 14.0 points and 8.7 rebounds through Sunday, and viewed as someone who could make an immediate impact for teams looking to make a playoff push.

Along with that, he is on an expiring contract and will be an unrestricted free agent at season’s end. Charania added that multiple others are expressing interest in Holmes as well.

Meanwhile, it’s not quite clear what direction the Kings (17-25) intend to take. They could either have a fire sale or aim to make moves to help get themselves into at least the playoffs play-in game.

Holmes has indicated he would like to remain in Sacramento.

“I can’t say enough how much I love this city, love these fans, love my teammates, love stepping out there in Sacramento in my jersey representing this city,” Holmes said on Friday (via NBC Sports’ James Ham). “It’s been some of the best times of my life.”
