Koby Altman Addresses The State Of The Cavs Following Early Playoff Exit

A lot of people were disappointed as the Cleveland Cavaliers fell at the hands of the New York Knicks in five games during the NBA Playoffs. No one examined this loss more than Cleveland's president of basketball operations, Koby Altman .

He's responsible for the roster construction of the Cavs and there are definitely some areas that need to be addressed as the team heads into the offseason early than they would've liked.

However, this early exit isn't forcing Altman to make any impulsive decisions about the roster. This is what he said, via Kelsey Russo, about the ending of the season.

“We accomplished a lot this year and really put this franchise back on the map in terms of being able to compete at the highest level all year long. And this is part of the journey. This is the pain and the agony that we felt the last couple days is part of it. And we’re going to get better for it, but it doesn’t change how we feel about this group.”

This wasn't the all-in, go-for-it season for the Cavs. They made strides to improve the team and obviously only one win in the playoffs is disappointing, but there's no reason to blow it up. Cleveland isn't in championship or bust mode yet.

Altman will need to address some of the glaring holes in the lineup this offseason. This includes a true wing that can start and a backup center who can give quality minutes off the bench.

However, as he said, there's no reason to believe this team will see any drastic changes before training camp begins in the fall.
