LA Trade Deadline Target Will Now Miss Time Due to Injury
USA TODAY Sports

The Los Angeles Lakers season has been a series of ups and downs all year. In one game they look unbeatable, and in the next one, they look like one of the worst teams in the league.

It has caused much frustration around the organization and will likely see them look into making another big trade at the trade deadline. Los Angeles has been connected with multiple names already, and that will only continue with the deadline approaching next week.

One player that Los Angeles has looked into going after at the deadline is Atlanta Hawks center Clint Capela. Capela would help address the Lakers' size problems and give them a talented guy who does all the little things on the floor.

The Hawks and Lakers have already been discussing a potential deal for point guard Dejounte Murray, so maybe the two sides could do a trade for both players.

A few weeks ago, Brett Siegal of ClutchPoints reported that the Lakers front office had held talks about potentially acquiring the big man.

The Lakers, league sources said, have briefly discussed the scenario of acquiring both Murray and Capela from the Hawks."

However, a potential trade for Capela could be in jeopardy now. The big man got hurt in Atlanta's overtime win over the Golden State Warriors. He has a left adductor strain and will be out for at least seven to 10 days.

This could impact the way the Lakers look at a potential Capela trade. They need help almost immediately, so him missing too much time would be a problem.

In 47 games for the Hawks, Capela is averaging 11.5 points and 10.6 rebounds per game. He has also added 1.5 blocks per game as well.

Capela would be a great addition to the Lakers frontcourt, and it would take some burden off Anthony Davis. But this recent development of his injury may change the way Los Angeles goes about the deadline.
