As the biggest name and face in the NBA, LeBron James holds a lot of power in our modern-day world. Fortunately, he uses that power for good and often speaks up on important issues that require major attention.

On Tuesday, James made headlines for commenting on the most recent school shooting, which has claimed the lives of over 20 people:

There simply has to be change! HAS TO BE!! .. Praying to the heavens above to all with kids these days in schools.

My thoughts and prayers goes out to the families of love ones loss & injured at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, TX! Like when is enough enough man!!! These are kids and we keep putting them in harms way at school. Like seriously "AT SCHOOL" where it's suppose to be the safest!

James has never been shy about standing up for his values. During the George Floyd protests a few years back, he went toe-to-toe with the then-U.S. President, Donald Trump, who called both him and the NBA out publicly:

"I really don't think the basketball community are sad about losing his viewership," James said. "That's all I've got to say. I don't want to ... I'm not going to get into it. 'Cause already know where this could go, where it could lead to tomorrow for me. I'm not going to get into it. I think that our game is in a beautiful position, and we have fans all over the world. And our fans not only love the way we play — we try to give it back to them with our commitment to the game — but also respect what else we try to bring to the game and acknowledge what's right and what's wrong."

"And I hope everyone, no matter the race, no matter the color, no matter the size, see what leadership we have at the top of the country, and understand that November is right around the corner and it's a big moment for us as Americans. If we continue to talk about what we want better, what we want changed, we have the opportunity to do that."

So, it's no surprise that LeBron is taking a stand here. When innocent lives are taken in a place that's supposed to be safe, it turns into an issue that everyone should talk about.

Steve Kerr already made his own statement, and so did many other stars around the association. As the most powerful figure in the league, James couldn't help but chime in as well, and it definitely helped bring some attention to the crisis.
