Mavs Assign Rookie O-Max Prosper to G League; Full Details
USA TODAY Sports

FRISCO — Before departing to New Orleans for a four-game road trip, the Dallas Mavericks practiced Saturday at the team's facility. They assigned rookie Olivier-Maxence Prosper to the G League, allowing him to compete with the Texas Legends against the Oklahoma City Blue.

The plan for the Mavs is for Prosper to rejoin the team in New Orleans on Sunday ahead of their matchup against the Pelicans. Given Maxi Kleber being sidelined for an extended period, the Mavs could use more size on the wing when trying to slow down the likes of Zion Williamson and Brandon Ingram

"O-Max is playing for the Legends tonight, and he will rejoin us in New Orleans tomorrow," Mavs coach Jason Kidd said.

Kidd mentioned no specific focus areas when asked for potential focus areas for Prosper when playing with the Legends on Saturday. The goal is for him just to execute the gameplan and stay healthy before rejoining the team in New Orleans.

"No, just enjoy what the coaches are asking him to do — do his job," Kidd said of Prosper. "And be healthy and make it to New Orleans tomorrow."

Kidd hinted at the possibility of Prosper receiving playing time on Sunday when the Mavs face the Pelicans, which would mean the rookie competing for three consecutive days after playing Friday, Saturday, and possibly Sunday.

"It's kind of interesting to have an opportunity maybe to play three games in a row between yesterday, today, and then tomorrow," Kidd said of Prosper. "Just his energy, playing hard, and executing the game plan."

For those interested in watching Prosper's performance with the Legends, the G League broadcasts games live on YouTube in addition to the Legends' typical broadcast on Bally Sports Southwest. You can also subscribe to my YouTube channel for a video reel of Prosper's highlights.
