Minnesota Timberwolves Officially Sign Recent Rockets Player
USA TODAY Sports

Daishen Nix is coming off a year where he appeared in 57 regular season games for the Houston Rockets

The 21-year-old averaged 4.0 points, 1.7 rebounds and 2.3 assists per contest while shooting 34.2% from the field and 28.6% from the three-point range.

This summer, Nix became a free agent, and on September 21, RealGM reported that he had officially signed a contract with the Minnesota Timberwolves (Nix is also now on the team's official roster).

Shams Charania of The Athletic and Stadium first reported the deal (on September 17).

Via Charania on September 17: "Guard Daishen Nix is signing a one-year deal with the Minnesota Timberwolves, sources tell @TheAthletic @Stadium. After his first two NBA seasons with Rockets, Nix will go to camp with Minnesota."

Coming out of high school (2020), Nix was ranked by ESPN as the 21st-best player in the country (and the sixth-best point guard).

However, he went undrafted in 2021 after playing one season for G League Ignite.

Nix has played two seasons in the NBA for the Rockets and has career averages of 3.7 points, 1.6 rebounds and 2.1 assists per contest while shooting 35.5% from the field and 28.3% from the three-point range in 81 games.

As for the Timberwolves, they have a talented roster, and are coming off a year where they were the eighth seed in the Western Conference with a 42-40 record.

They lost to Nikola Jokic and the Denver Nuggets in the first round of the NBA playoffs (in five games).
