Pelicans’ CJ McCollum Played Final Seven Games With Torn Labrum
Stephen Lew-USA TODAY Sports

The season is over for the Pelicans and perhaps thankfully, for veteran guard CJ McCollum.

That’s because McCollum apparently was injured for the final seven games of New Orleans’ season — including the play-in loss to the visiting Thunder on Wednesday.

More specifically, per Will Guillory of The Athletic, McCollum suffered a torn labrum in his shoulder, but played in the final seven games, anyway.

As Guillory noted, it will be a long offseason for McCollum, and the Pelicans overall. Another year of injuries, specifically to power forward Zion Williamson, has them wondering what could have been and what to do next.

Despite the pain, McCollum managed to average 20.9 points and 7.5 assists in 75 games, shooting 44 percent from the field and 39 percent on 3-pointers.

He scored 14 points on 5-of-15 shooting, playing 41 minutes, in the season-ending loss to OKC.
