Philadelphia 76ers Taking Drastic Measures To Keep New York Knicks Fans Out

One of the storylines from the first-round series in the 2024 NBA Playoffs between the Philadelphia 76ers and New York Knicks has been the invasion of Wells Fargo Center. In Games 3 and 4 in Philadelphia, the arena was overrun by Knicks fans.

While the 76ers fans had the final laugh in Game 3, Knicks fans still made their presence felt. Comments were made after the game by superstar Joel Embiid about not being thrilled with their homecourt advantage being minimized. At times, it did feel like it was an away game for them.

In Game 4, it was more of the same. Going on the road is usually a detriment for teams, but when your fan base travels as well as New York’s does, they feel right at home. Former Knicks players and super fans are littering the sidelines, making it feel like Madison Square Garden.

That is something Philadelphia ownership is looking to nip in the bud in Game 6. After a thrilling, historic victory in Game 5, the 76ers are returning home looking to even the series up at three wins apiece.

Looking to ensure they have more of a homecourt advantage, their ownership has taken drastic measures to fill the arena with more 76ers fans. According to Keith Pompey of The Philadelphia Inquirer, Josh Harris, David Blitzer and David Adelman, with Fanatics CEO Michel Rubin, have purchased 2,000 tickets for Game 6.

Per a team spokesman, they are planning to distribute those tickets to first responders, healthcare professionals, community groups and other Philadelphia local-based organizations. Their goal is to keep Knicks fans out and get more fans cheering for the red, white and blue in the building.
