Poor shooting results in critical loss to Pelicans
Allan Henry-USA TODAY Sports

In a game with serious playoff implications, the Phoenix Suns faltered at home against the New Orleans Pelicans, resulting in a disappointing 113-105 loss.

Despite a strong start that saw the Suns take a 10+ point lead in the 1st quarter, poor shooting plagued them for the remainder of the game.

The Suns’ bench only contributed seven points, with Royce O’Neale and Drew Eubanks combining for an 0-5 shooting performance.

Instead, they relied heavily on Bradley Beal, who had arguably his best game of the season, shooting 7-8 from deep for 33 points, leading the team.

The Suns’ big three of Beal, Booker, and Durant combined for 81 of the Suns’ 105 points.

Despite multiple opportunities in the 4th quarter to tie the game, Phoenix couldn’t capitalize on open shots. Grayson Allen, in particular, went 3-10 from beyond the arc.

On a positive note, the Suns still hold the tiebreaker over New Orleans, maintaining their 6th position in the Western Conference standings.

If the season were to end today, they would be facing the Thunder in the 1st round of the playoffs.

Up next for the Suns is a meeting with the Clippers on Tuesday at 7 pm.
