Report: Knicks still have 'best package' to offer for Jazz's Donovan Mitchell

With NBA training camps scheduled to open in a little more than a month, the future is still uncertain for Utah Jazz All-Star Donovan Mitchell.

Mitchell hasn't publicly requested a move out of Utah, but he's been the subject of trade speculation for nearly the entire offseason. Many believe he'll test free agency after the 2024-25 season, and with the Jazz on the edge of a rebuild, it would make sense to get whatever assets they can for Mitchell.

The New York Knicks, the team linked to Mitchell the most, are reportedly still in the driver's seat to acquire the three-time All-Star, per John Gambadoro of 98.7 FM in Phoenix.

Gambadoro's source refuted the report that the Jazz had asked for seven first-round picks as part of the return for Mitchell.

Last week, Marc Berman of the New York Post said that giving away too many assets in a trade was a "major concern" of the Knicks.

While the Knicks may still be the front-runners to add Mitchell, several teams have joined the fray, while others have bowed out.

The Atlanta Hawks, Miami Heat and Sacramento Kings are seemingly out of the Mitchell sweepstakes. Meanwhile, the list of suitors includes the Brooklyn Nets, Los Angeles Lakers, Washington Wizards, Charlotte Hornets and Cleveland Cavaliers.
