Sixers Urged to Reunite With Danny Green

Weeks before training camp started, the Philadelphia 76ers agreed on a deal to bring back Danny Green. After recovering from ACL surgery, the three-time champion showed nice flashes with the Cleveland Cavaliers at the end of last season.

Green played well for the Sixers in the preseason but still ended up being waived. He was cut following the James Harden trade to clear space for the incoming players. Since then, Green has not landed with a new team.

A month into the regular season, the people at Bleacher Report put together the best landing spots for available free agents. Green was ranked as the No. 2 top player available, with the Sixers being his ideal destination. 

"Having the right voices in the locker room and on the bench is often underrated. While the 36-year-old wouldn't play significant minutes, he's a pioneer of the modern-day 3-and-D archetypes. His knowledge, experience, leadership and whatever he has left for the court would help Philadelphia's title aspirations."

In the four preseason games he appeared in for the Sixers, Green averaged five points and shot 46% from beyond the arc. He also looked good from a physical standpoint, given the circumstances. 

For a team looking to contend for a title, the Sixers could use a veteran with championship experience like Green. That said, another reunion doesn't seem likely at this point. 

If Green were to sign with a team, he'd probably want a chance at consistent playing time. Given the Sixers' current roster makeup, that isn't a guarantee Nick Nurse can give. With the additions of Nic Batu and Robert Covington, the Sixers have multiple wings that can provide more impact on both ends than Green.
