'The league doesn’t like me…' Anthony Davis reacts to not being nominated for DPOY
Stephen Lew-USA TODAY Sports

Anthony Davis has been one of the standout defensive players in the league and wasn’t shortlisted for the top gong. He has, however, come to terms with the fact that he may never get the recognition he deserves from the league for his solid defensive performances.

The Brow made this known while speaking to Dave McMenamin of ESPN, revealing his frustration at the recent snub.

They're not giving it to me. The league doesn't like me. I'm the best defensive player in the league. I can switch 1 through 5. I can guard the pick-and-roll the best in the league from a big standpoint. I block shots. I rebound. I don't know what else to do. I'm over it. I'm just going to do what I got to do to help the team win and try to play for a championship. Accolades and individual awards, I'm done with those. Anthony Davis said

Anthony Davis, surprisingly, was omitted from the final three shortlists for this season’s DPOY despite his impressive stats of 12.6 rebounds and 2.3 blocks per game. Although injury has affected him in the past, he played an astonishing 76 games this season and has been on form throughout, which makes his exclusion even more baffling.

Furthermore, an anonymous player poll released by The Athletic didn’t even include him in the top 15 best defenders in the league, which has added fuel to the conversation of whether he is getting the recognition he deserves. However, despite being overlooked, he prioritizes helping his team succeed, as he now values that over individual accolades and awards.

Anthony Davis 32 point performance not enough as Jamal Murray stuns the Lakers

The Los Angeles Lakers had a 20-point lead against the Denver Nuggets but ended up losing 101-99 in game two of their playoff series. While Anthony Davis scored 32 points in the game, the Nuggets won with a buzzer-beating shot by Jamal Murray, which stunned the Lakers.

Ironically, Davis had the chance to prove his defensive worth after calling out the league for the DPOY snub but failed to stop Murray’s last-minute shot. It appears those believing that AD would be the X-Factor didn’t consider this.

The Lakers still have the opportunity to rescue their championship hopes when they welcome the Nuggets to the Crypto.com Arena for a decisive Game 3. Davis really needs to show the league why he deserves not to be snubbed.
