This May Be Why Danny Green Hasn't Received Playing Time For The Cavs

When the Cleveland Cavaliers signed Danny Green as a free agent after he was bought out but the Rockets, I expected him to receive consistent playing time. He's won multiple NBA championships, can still shoot the lights out and is a high basketball IQ player who can offer a lot to an inexperienced team.

But that has not been the case. Green has only appeared in five games for the Cavs, averaging 3.2 points. He's only averaging 8.2 minutes over those five games.

So, why isn't Green getting more playing time when he clearly can have an impact on the floor even as he ages? J.B. Bickerstaff referred to those at the back of the rotation as "wildcards" with no set amount of playing time.

This is exactly where Green falls on this team.

These players include Cedi Osman, Dean Wade, Lamar Stevens, and Green. Opting to go with the hot hand certainly has its pros and cons especially this late in the season.

Just because Green is in the back of the rotation with no set playing time right now, doesn't mean he can't work his way up to a larger role. Stevens was out of the Cavs rotation a week and a half ago and now he's starting in big games.

Green can get hot at any time so it wouldn't be surprising to see the veteran play a larger role come playoff time.
