Turkey Reportedly Put $500K Bounty On Enes Freedom's Head, According To The New York Post

Enes Kanter Freedom has been a controversial person for a while now. The Turkish-American player was always an outspoken figure that didn't care about who was offended by his comments, as he always tried to seek truth in his country and the rest of the world. 

That's why he called out LeBron James for his links with China, Brooklyn Nets owner Joe Tsai and even NBA commissioner Adam Silver. Freedom claimed he was blackballed by the NBA after he left the association, as he never got a new opportunity in the league. 

Now, things have gotten worse for him after the Turkish government, who infamously threatened the former Boston Celtics player, has put a $500K bounty on the former big man's head. 

Enes Kanter Freedom Is A Target Of Turkish Government 

According to the New York Post, the president of Turkey offered a lot of money to those who could give them Kanter. The relationship between the former player and the Turkish government has always been hostile, but now the country is taking things to the next level. 

Former NBA star Enes Kanter Freedom — who famously amended his name after becoming a US citizen in 2021 — is officially a wanted man. Not only is his name on 2023’s most-wanted terrorists list, but this is the first time his former country has actually placed a published bounty on people’s heads.

President Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s government is offering up to 10 million Turkish Lira, or roughly $500,000, for information leading to the capture of Freedom, who said he found out about it a week ago.

“That makes it so dangerous,” Freedom, 30, told The Post. “Before the bounty, Turkish intelligence were after the people on the list, but now everyone is after them because they want the money.”

This is really serious and something to be scared of. Freedom is well aware of that, and he's been in touch with organizations in the United States, trying to remain as protected as possible. Things could go really wrong for him if somebody takes this offer too seriously, but Enes has made sure to keep himself protected at all costs.
