Warriors to Work Out Will Barton, Stanley Johnson, Others
Nell Redmond-USA TODAY Sports

The Warriors are holding workouts with several veteran free agents ahead of training camp, bringing in the likes of big man Derrick Favors, guard/forward Will Barton and others, per Michael Scotto of HoopsHype.

Along with those two, Golden State intends to hold workouts with forward Stanley Johnson, guard/forward Kent Bazemore, center Dewayne Dedmon, guard/forward Juan Toscano-Anderson, and shooting guard Jaylen Nowell. Bazemore and Toscano-Anderson were previously identified as those working out with the Warriors.

Several of those players have been linked to other teams by Scotto, with Favors recently working out for the Trail Blazers and Barton expected to audition for the Pelicans.

Favors, 32, is 6-foot-9 and signed a 10-day deal with the Hawks in January, though he didn’t appear in a game. His last full season came with the Thunder in 2021-22, when he appeared in 39 games and averaged 5.3 points and 4.7 rebounds.

Barton, 32, is 6-6 and appeared in 52 games combined with the Wizards and Raptors last season, compiling averages of 6.8 points and 37 percent shooting on 3-pointers.

Dedmon, 34, is 7-0 and played 30 games with the Heat last season, as well as eight with the Hawks. He averaged 5.2 points and 3.5 boards.

Johnson, 27, is 6-7 and has bounced around the league quite a bit lately, appearing in 30 games with the Spurs last season.

The Warriors have 13 players under standard contract and are likely to sign at least one more before the start of the season. Training camp is set to tip off on Oct. 3 and the Warriors still have four roster spots available overall.
