2023 NFL Draft: TCU RB Kendre Miller Visits Jaguars
USA TODAY Sports

The Jacksonville Jaguars have paid specific attention to the running back position during this year's pre-draft cycle, with the most recent move being a top-30 visit with TCU running back Kendre Miller.

The Jaguars signed running back JaMycal Hasty to a contract extension and also signed D'Ernest Johnson in free-agency. Add in incumbent starter and 1,000-yard rusher Travis Etienne and 2022 fifth-round pick Snoop Conner, and the Jaguars have a full running back room.

This hasn't stopped them from hosting running backs on pre-draft visits, however, with the Jaguars so far hosting Miller, Tulane running back Tyjae Spears, UAB running back DeWayne McBride, and Tulsa running back Deneric Prince.

"I think in today’s game you’ve got to have two to three guys. They’ve got to be able to carry the load," Pederson said at the NFL Scouting Combine.

"You’re talking about a 18-week, 17-game schedule and the postseason. It’s wear and tear on guys. We haven’t seen enough of Snoop Conner (RB) yet either, but we like him. We know what JaMycal (RB JaMycal Hasty) can do. We obviously know what TJ, Etienne (RB Travis Etienne Jr.) can do. You’re always looking to have two, three, four guys that can work the rotation at any given time. The last thing I’ll say is I like him to play special teams as well, so that’s a big part of the, I think the impact of a running back is being able to play special teams."

Miller rushed for 1,399 yards and 17 touchdowns last season, averaging 6.2 yards per carry. He also caught 16 passes for 116 yards, earning first-team All-Big 12 honors and leading the team in rushing.

For his TCU career, Miller averaged 6.7 yards per carry rushing for 2,410 yards and 26 touchdowns and catching 29 passes for 229 yards and one touchdown.
