49ers GM John Lynch on injured TE George Kittle: He's a hard guy to keep off the field

San Francisco 49ers tight end George Kittle sat out practice for the second straight day on Thursday due to a calf injury, and there is a possibility he could be unavailable for Sunday's game against the Seattle Seahawks.

During an appearance on KNBR (h/t 49ers Webzone), 49ers general manager John Lynch didn't offer any news of Kittle's availability for Sunday's Week 4 matchup. However, he did say the veteran tight end is "a hard guy to keep off the field."

"With George, you guys see it, I think we all see it; he pours so much into each and every play, and he plays a lot," Lynch said. "I think the combination of that, at times, he sells out. He's got a calf that's a little tight, and he's working through that. But George usually rings the bell and shows up, and you can't take that for granted. We're hopeful that we have him, and we certainly need him. He's a tremendous player, as we saw the other night and have seen so many times."

In three games this season, Kittle has 15 catches for 187 yards. The Niners will undoubtedly need him on Sunday if they have hopes of beating the Seahawks and moving to 3-1 on the season.

Kittle has been one of San Francisco's best players since entering the league in 2017. While he's known for being very tough, that toughness often gets him injured. The 27-year-old has not played a full season since 2018.
