49ers make roster move ahead of NFC Championship Game
Eric Hartline-USA TODAY Sports

The San Francisco 49ers' defensive line has come in for some scrutiny in the wake of their narrow divisional round win over the Green Bay Packers.

San Francisco struggled in run defense on the edges and wasn't able to consistently make Packers quarterback Jordan Love uncomfortable.

However, the interior of the D-Line was impressive in stopping runs up the middle, and that area of the team could be about to get a boost after the 49ers made a roster move ahead of Sunday's NFC Championship Game with the Detroit Lions.

The 49ers opened the 21-day practice window for second-year defensive tackle Kalia Davis.

Davis, who finally made his debut in Week 13 of this season after being drafted in the sixth round in 2022, was placed on injured reserve in December with an ankle injury.

He registered a sack and a tackle for loss in his debut against the Philadelphia Eagles.

It remains to be seen if he will be activated in time to face to Detroit, however, Davis' return to practice gives the 49ers the potential for greater defensive line depth in the Super Bowl if they prevail against the Lions.
