49ers unwilling to trade Deebo Samuel before draft?

49ers reportedly unwilling to trade Deebo Samuel before 2022 NFL Draft

If the San Francisco 49ers are seriously entertaining trade offers for dual-threat offensive weapon and All-Pro selection Deebo Samuel before the 2022 NFL Draft gets underway on Thursday night, they're apparently doing a good job of keeping such discussions quiet.

NFL Network's Tom Pelissero reported Wednesday afternoon that "people close to 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan and general manager John Lynch don't believe that they want to trade Samuel, and ultimately will choose not to." Per Charean Williams of Pro Football Talk, NFL Network's Ian Rapoport added there is no sense of "any movement" regarding the 26-year-old in the final year of his rookie contract who tallied 1,405 receiving yards, 365 rushing yards and 14 touchdowns during the 2021 regular season.

Lynch made it clear on Monday that he "can’t ever imagine wanting to move on from Deebo" and couldn't "envision a scenario where we would." While it remains unclear why Samuel asked the 49ers to trade him this spring, it's been speculated he wants to feature only as a wide receiver moving forward and wishes to sign an extension that will earn him $25 million per year.

Also on Wednesday, Samuel took to Twitter to complain about individuals discussing "a situation they know nothing about." Needless to say, his status with the 49ers is still very much up in the air with the start of the draft quickly approaching.
