Aaron Rodgers: Photo from teammates made me cry
Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers Jeff Hanisch-USA TODAY Sports

Aaron Rodgers shared a photo on social media this week that led many to believe he was on the verge of announcing his departure from the Green Bay Packers. However, the star quarterback has since explained that the photo is one that had a great impact on him emotionally.

One of the photos Rodgers posted showed Packers wide receivers Davante Adams and Randall Cobb with a space between them. That space is usually filled by Rodgers, but he was absent that game after testing positive for COVID-19. During his Tuesday appearance on “The Pat McAfee Show,” Rodgers explained that he shared the photo because it was “deeply moving,” not to hint at any of his future plans.

“Full transparency — when I got that message, I cried. When I got that photo from Randall and Davante, it brought tears to my eyes,” Rodgers said. “That’s my guys standing before the game. Randall’s always on my right. (Adams) is on my left. I embrace with both of them after the anthem and it’s part of the pregame ritual. … They held space and an open spot for me the game I missed because of my positive COVID test, and that got me, man. That’s one of my favorite photos from the year. It just shows the love and how special each of those moments are.”
