Agent rips Commanders for using player as political pawn

Ryan Williams, the agent for Washington Commanders running back Brian Robinson, called out the organization on Wednesday night for including his client's name in a statement directed at the Washington, D.C. attorney general.

The statement came after the AG announced there would be a major news conference on Thursday afternoon regarding the Commanders. There were no details as to what that press conference would be about.

In response, the Commanders fired off a statement that criticized the AG and mentioned when Robinson was injured in a shooting a few months ago.

That statement drew harsh media criticism in the immediate aftermath. It also did not sit well with Robinson's agent.

Robinson was shot twice during an attempted carjacking just before the start of the regular season. An arrest was recently made.

Robinson has fully recovered and rushed for 219 yards on 67 carries in his first five NFL games.

Here is the original statement the Commanders made on Wednesday that angered Williams.

"Less than three months ago, a 23-year-old player on our team was shot multiple times, in broad daylight," the statement began. "Despite the out-of-control violent crime in DC, today the Washington Commanders learned for the first time on Twitter that the D.C. Attorney General will be holding a press conference to 'make a major announcement' related to the organization tomorrow."

The attorney general's press conference is scheduled for 1 p.m. ET on Thursday.
