Arizona Cardinals drafted some future stars who are set to debut this week at NFL Rookie Minicamp
Adam Cairns/USA Today / USA TODAY NETWORK

The 2024 NFL Draft is behind us. The NFL offseason is now in full swing. Next up: Rookie Minicamps. Several NFL teams have already met for their minicamps in the last week. The Arizona Cardinals will be welcoming all of their draft picks, undrafted free agent signings, and camp invite players for their rookie minicamp this week!

Rookie Minicamp activities for the Cardinals will start May 10th and conclude on the 12th. This is a great opportunity for each and every incoming rookie to make their presence known, proving to the team that they're ready to make an instant impact in year one for the team.

Let's dive into some of the new players who will be making their first appearance at rookie minicamp and could be primed to break out this season for the Cardinals!

Marvin Harrison Jr., WR Ohio State

General manager Monti Ossenfort didn't play around with multiple trades in the first round this year. He saw Marvin Harrison Jr. still available on the board at pick four and made perhaps the easiest draft selection of his entire career.

Harrison Jr. is the son of a Pro Football Hall of Fame wide receiver, posted back to back seasons with a 95th percentile or better production profile, and he boasts incredible size, length, and athleticism. He's immediately injected new life and hope into the Cardinals franchise making everyone around him already ecstatic. Here's fellow instant impact rookie cornerback Max Melton talking about just how much it means to be teammates with a wide receiver so great:

"Iron sharpens iron." That's the truth, and the two areas where the Cardinals needed to improve the most this offseason were at wide receiver and defensive back. Let's hope they all make each other better, and fast. The Cardinals drafted four defensive backs, so one or two of them will likely make an early impact as well. But there's no way any other rookie makes a more significant early impact than Marvin Harrison Jr. in 2024. Expect something near the realm of greatness right away.

Darius Robinson, DL Missouri

The Cardinals needed to add some help along the defensive front that offered great versatility. Darius Robinson may be the only defender in the 2024 NFL Draft class to succeed at an elite level playing both edge rusher and interior defensive line.

As you can see in the post below, Darius Robinson can dominate playing wide off the edge as he did at the Senior Bowl and all throughout NFL Draft season. But he also wins with strength, speed and bend on the interior defensive line.

Darius Robinson spent most of last season playing edge rusher looking elite in that role, racking up nine sacks and a pass rush pressure rate near 15%. However, he also spent all of 2022 playing almost exclusively interior defensive line. At 6'5, 285 he can play any position that the Cardinals need him to along the defensive front. In fact, there's a great chance he leads the entire defense in snaps as a rookie. There just simply won't be a reason to bring him off the field.

Trey Benson, RB Florida State

Trey Benson is a phenomenal running back prospect, but he was perhaps an even better interview at the NFL Combine. I knew that Benson was incredibly elusive, posting over four yards after contact in 2022. I knew he possessed game-breaking speed as exhibited by his 4.39-second forty-yard dash and more than half his yards coming on breakaway explosive plays. But I wasn't quite expecting to learn that his teammates call him Forrest Gump (as you can see in my video below).

Trey Benson is a completely different running back than James Conner, the presumed leader of the backfield for 2024. Benson is much more explosive, faster, more agile, and frankly looks like a better player in every way shape and form. There's a great chance he surpasses the 29-year-old James Conner earlier than many expect. But even if he doesn't right away, based on Benson's experience fighting through injury--having to wait his turn for greatness--it sounds like Benson thrives when he has to fight through adversity.

Here he is talking through his injury recovery and outlining that he's actually better off now than he was before.

"Getting hurt, it was one of my biggest challenges that I've faced since I've been in college. But it made me who I am today. It made me way stronger than what I was. And actually the injury made me faster...the injury was probably the best thing that happened to me."

It's pretty amazing for a young star to bring that kind of perspective, understanding that his injury has actually made him a better person and football player. Benson is going to impress at Rookie Minicamp and likely earn a significant role for the Cardinals in year one.
