Bengals get Joe Burrow another playmaker in latest mock draft

NFL.com writer Daniel Jeremiah has released his mock draft 2.0 and the former NFL scout has the Bengals getting QB Joe Burrow yet another weapon.

With pick No. 28 in the first round of the 2023 NFL Draft, Jeremiah has Cincinnati selecting Notre Dame TE Michael Mayer.

"Mayer can step right into the lineup and win contested catches for the Bengals," he writes.

This is a common case of the rich getting richer as the 21-year-old has compiled 1,649 yards and 16 touchdowns over the past two seasons.

The stars seem to be aligning as Mayer is ranked as the No. 28 overall prospect on Pro Football Focus' big board as well.

However, this move feels dependent on what happens with TE Hayden Hurst in free agency. Hurst is coming off of a one-year deal with the Bengals and some wouldn't be upset if he returned in 2023.

Although, it is difficult to believe Mayer wouldn't have a better season than Hurst did in 2022. Hurst's 414 yards and two touchdowns weren't bad by any case, but expectations are continuing to rise in Cincinnati after the team reached its second straight AFC Championship Game.

The Bengals Super Bowl window is wide open with Burrow. So why not see if the offense can take things to another level by adding Mayer to the lineup?
