The Bengals are hoping for a much healthier 2021, unfortunately they'll likely start the season without one of their young offensive tackles.

Hakeem Adeniji suffered a torn pectoral muscle during OTAs. He had surgery to repair the injury, but he's going to miss significant time.

"He had to have surgery on his pec. That was actually last week," Bengals head coach Zac Taylor said on Tuesday. "That's unfortunate because Hakeem is a guy that obviously did well for us last year as a rookie and has a bright future and still has a bright future, but that's just a setback that we'll have to endure right now. That'll be a several month issue. We'll see where it goes from there, but he had surgery last week and he won't be around for a while."

Adeniji was expected to be a backup swing tackle this year. The Bengals selected him in the sixth-round (180th overall) in the 2020 NFL Draft.

He appeared in 15 games and made five starts last season.
