Bills' Shaq Lawson addresses confronting fan at Eagles game

Buffalo Bills defensive end Shaq Lawson took to his Instagram account on Monday to address a viral video that showed Lawson and other Buffalo players confronting fans during the club's 37-34 overtime loss at the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday.

"Those of you who know me know that I'm all about the fans, and I have a lot of respect for the game I play and my opponents," Lawson wrote for a post shared on his account that's set to private, per Alaina Getzenberg of ESPN. "Before the game started yesterday, there was a fan behind our bench, who was making life-threatening remarks toward us and our families. We asked Philadelphia security to remove the fan, but he was allowed to stay for the entire game. Eventually, our emotions boiled over, and I made a mistake. For that, I apologize, but there are certain lines that should not be crossed."

The previously mentioned video shows Buffalo defensive tackle Jordan Phillips exchanging what appear to be unpleasantries with one fan as Lawson approaches his teammate. Lawson then seemed to shove the fan before the 29-year-old turned away and walked back toward the bench.

For a piece published by The Athletic last week, "about a quarter of the votes from the 73 players who answered" named Philadelphia fans the most annoying in the league. New York Giants legend Eli Manning has repeatedly joked about all he experienced playing road games against the Eagles, but neither Lawson nor Phillips was amused by what happened on Sunday.

"I love the crowd I love rowdy fans it makes the game fun," Phillips wrote in an Instagram post also shared on Monday. "But one thing I’m not going to tolerate is someone threatening me or my family. This is a line that shouldn’t be crossed."

Marcus Hayes of The Philadelphia Inquirer reported early Monday morning he heard from "an NFL source" that the league "probably" will suspend Lawson. The 6-6 Bills are in their bye and next face the Kansas City Chiefs (8-3) in Week 14.
