The Houston Texans are a team focused on family. Literally.
Besides the current owner, Janice McNair, the wife of Houston's late owner Bob McNair, the team has also seen its share of brothers on the roster.
Former safety A.J. Moore Jr. played against his brother, C.J., last season, while J.J. Watt was a part of history, playing against his two brothers in the same game for the first time ever back in 2020.
Houston Texans coach DeMeco Ryans emphasized his desire to relate to and connect with his players in his first season with the team, and now he has the chance to do so with another household name for offensive lineman Scott Quessenberry.
Quessenberry signed a one-year deal with Houston Monday afternoon, which will mark the fifth year in the league for the 27-year-old, and the second with the Texans.
The veteran is now the third brother to play for the Texans, behind his older brothers Paul and David.
David Quessenberry is the best-known brother of the three, with his tenure in Houston dating back to 2013. He was selected in the sixth round but was only healthy for a brief period of time before being sidelined with a cancer diagnosis.
While he never played with either of his other brothers, Scott and Paul did briefly spend time in Houston together in 2022.
Now, Scott has the opportunity to prove his worth in his second year with the Texans.
Last season, he started all 16 games and played a pivotal role in Houston's rookie running back Dameon Pierce's outstanding season.
Now, he will get a chance to block for Pierce, as well as whichever new quarterback lines up under center for the Texans in 2023.
