Browns’ Denzel Ward Expected To Be Fine After Neck Injury

It appears that the Cleveland Browns dodged a major bullet in Sunday’s win over the Baltimore Ravens. Cornerback Denzel Ward exited the contest with what was initially feared to be a concussion. It was later revealed to be a neck injury, and it appears that there is little reason to be concerned at the moment.

A report from ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler states he was informed by an unidentified source that “He is going to be fine.”. Considering the manner in which Ward was hit, this is one of the better end results that could have come from it.

The hit in question came from Baltimore Ravens left tackle Ronnie Stanley. The 29-year-old veteran was in the process of running down the field after a pass completion to Zay Flowers. Stanley would arrive late when the play was seemingly over and proceed to launch into Ward.

This hit from Stanley would lead to Ward exiting the game and subsequently not returning. It was reported shortly after his exit that it was a neck injury rather than another concussion.

Ward “being fine” is some much-needed good news for the Browns. Cleveland cannot afford to lose any more key members of their roster for an extended period. A tough matchup with the Pittsburgh Steelers awaits them next on their schedule. If Cleveland is going to win, they are going to need all hands on deck in the contest.
