Buccaneers QB Tom Brady has 'sore' ring finger on throwing hand

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers improved to 2-0 on the young NFL season via Sunday's 20-10 win at the New Orleans Saints (1-1) that, at times, was downright ugly for the visitors.

Tampa Bay quarterback Tom Brady was spotted attending to the ring finger on his throwing hand early in the game and later threw one of the team's sideline tablets out of frustration. Per the Joe Bucs Fan website, Brady addressed his hurting digit during Monday's edition of his "Let's Go!" SiriusXM show and podcast with broadcaster Jim Gray.

"I banged it up pretty good," Brady admitted about the finger. "But, you know, it didn’t affect me at all in the game. It’s just going to be sore throughout the week. One of those bumps and bruises that come along with playing, different things, you get kicked, you get kneed and all these things come up. It’s demolition derby out there. It’s who can recover fast enough in order to put yourself in a position to practice, prepare and then go play well the next week."

For what it's worth, Buccaneers head coach Todd Bowles confirmed on Monday that Brady will take Wednesdays off from practice as scheduled maintenance days moving forward but will be at the team's facility for meetings throughout midweeks.

Interestingly, Brady confessed last week he was noticeably aching following the season-opening 19-3 win at the Dallas Cowboys on Sept. 11.

"And you look at your arm and you got bruises, you got cuts," the 45-year-old said at that time. "And you go, 'OK, how much longer do I want to make this commitment?' And I obviously made the commitment for this year and everything’s going to be like always — continue to evaluate all these different aspects of playing."

Per ESPN stats, Brady began Tuesday 20th among eligible quarterbacks with an 82.8 passer rating, 23rd with a 38.6 total QBR, and 23rd with 402 passing yards this season. The seven-time Super Bowl champion has a pair of touchdown throws and an interception on the campaign.

Brady and the Buccaneers will next host the 1-1 Green Bay Packers at Raymond James Stadium this coming Sunday.
