Cardinals QB Kyler Murray tests positive for COVID-19

Arizona Cardinals quarterback Kyler Murray's whirlwind of a summer took another turn on Monday.

While the NFL doesn't have any COVID protocols implemented in this summer's training camps for the first time in three years, the two-time Pro Bowler will still need to isolate, in accordance with CDC guidelines.

Eleven days ago, Murray signed a five-year, $230.5 million contract extension. News soon came out that Murray's new deal included an "independent study" clause, which mandated four hours of independent film study per week.

Following much criticism from both fans and media members alike, the 24-year-old responded to comments about his study habits, calling it "disrespectful" and "almost a joke." The Cardinals then removed the clause from his contract last Thursday.

Murray has completed 66.9 percent of his passes with 11,480 passing yards, 70 touchdowns and 34 interceptions while adding 314 carries for 1,786 yards and 20 rushing touchdowns across 46 career regular-season games in three seasons.
