Chiefs' Matt Nagy confirms the NFL is a copycat league
Denny Medley-USA TODAY Sports

The Kansas City Chiefs franchise is known for having the most dynamic offense in league history almost every year. This was the first year it wasn't one of the league's best, and even then, they still had amazing moments. Now, the Chiefs have one of the greatest offenses of all time, but even they take things from others.

Think back to Andy Reid saying that he took ideas from anyone, even the janitor when he coached in Green Bay for the Packers. That is true still to this day, and they even take from other coaches and make it into their own.

The Chiefs do a bit of that with some of the best coaches in the league; Kyle Shanahan, the San Francisco 49ers head coach, is one of them.

"Absolutely," offensive coordinator Matt Nagy said when asked if he ever takes things from Shanahan.

"He does a lot of great stuff. I think the thing with coach Shanahan is that he stays creative, does a lot of what they do really well, and finds ways to window-dress it. He's got great players and a great scheme, and when you match that together, you get to this point. A ton of respect for him. It's not something that has happened one or two years; it's been his whole career."

Shanahan is one of the more dynamic coaches in the league when it comes to his offensive mind and scheme. He uses receivers and running backs in the run-and-pass game in a way to create space and confuse the defense. Shanahan loves pre-snap motion with a lot of movement.

That can confuse the defense. The Chiefs have been known to do the same thing, too. I'm sure there has been an explosive play we have seen before that originated from Shanahan or even his father, Mike Shanahan, and we just didn't realize it.

The NFL is truly a copycat league.
