Chiefs Star Patrick Mahomes Gets Honest About Taylor Swift
Jay Biggerstaff-USA TODAY Sports

Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes may be the face of the franchise, but in the public sphere, tight end Travis Kelce is the bigger celebrity due to his relationship with pop star Taylor Swift.

Mahomes was recently asked about Swift during an interview with TIME Magazine, and the superstar signal-caller had all good things to say about the singer.

“Even when she’s talking about football. When she’s learning it, you can see her business mind putting it together,” Mahomes said, via Tzvi Machlin of The Spun. “It’s almost like she’s trying to become a coach. ‘Why can’t you try this, this, and this?’ She’s asking the right questions.”

Mahomes dismissed the idea that all of the fanfare surrounding Swift was a distraction to the team.

The 28-year-old is coming off of back-to-back Super Bowl championships. This past season, he threw for 4,183 yards, 27 touchdowns and 14 interceptions while completing 67.2 percent of his passes in what was actually a down year for him. He still managed to make his sixth straight trip to the Pro Bowl, and during the playoffs, he totaled six touchdowns and just one pick.

Mahomes, who played his collegiate football at Texas Tech, was selected by the Chiefs with the 10th overall pick of the 2017 NFL Draft.

He became the full-time starter in 2018 and immediately stamped his name among the best quarterbacks in football, throwing for 5,097 yards while leading the league with 50 touchdowns.

Since then, Mahomes has won three Super Bowl championships in total while also collecting a couple of MVP awards. He appears to be well on his way to becoming one of the best quarterback of all-time, if he isn’t there already.
