DeMarcus Lawrence says gap isn’t that big between Cowboys and Eagles
Jerome Miron-USA TODAY Sports

The NFC East has not had a repeat champion in 18 years. The Cowboys' edge rusher wants to push that mark to 19.

DeMarcus Lawrence says the gap isn't that insignificant.

The Eagles are the current favorites, rightfully, to be the East winner. They just went to the Super Bowl, but Dallas and Philly are close at every spot.

Jalen Hurts has proven to be better for one year, at least.

The Cowboys adding Brandin Cooks and Stephon Gilmore are huge.

I still can't grasp how folks don't think adding a former defensive player of the year and a guy who produces 1,000 yards everywhere he goes isn't help.

The Eagles have a very good offensive and defensive line, but so do the Cowboys.

Honestly, Dallas has the best player on both sides of the ball in Micah Parsons, so that also helps.

The media and everyone else wants to focus on, well, it's still the Cowboys, and I agree to an extent.

I am a Cubs fan and a Denver Nuggets fan. The Cubs ended over 100 years of not winning a world series; the Nuggets just won their first NBA championship in 40-plus years.

It was the same story every year they lost until they DID it.

Dallas can win a Super Bowl; I am still determining when but it will happen.

Dallas and Philly split the season series last year. In the first game, Dak Prescott didn't play against Hurts, while in the second game, Hurts was out when Prescott was back.

This year, we should get a show both times these teams meet. Assuming Prescott and Hurts are in the lineup.

They don't clash until weeks 9 & 14. So by then, those games could swing who wins the NFC East.

Dallas has won 12 games in back-to-back seasons for the first time in 30 years.

Something to build on, sure, but let's win some more games in the playoffs.

Don't worry; I am just like every other fan. I want wins in the playoffs, and say what you want this year is the best chance they have had since 2014 & 2016.

Looking over the Cowboys' schedule in 2023, they have 12 wins written all over it again.

It will come down to weeks 9 & 14. Those will be the weeks that the NFC East is decided.

For all you fans that say Prescott is the reason. This team hasn't won anything with any quarterback that has suited up since the 90s.

Even after his worst season in terms of interceptions, Prescott has the fifth-lowest interception rate among 165 players with 2,000 or more pass attempts in their career.

Prescott plays as he did in 2021 with this roster, and the gap is indeed closed. That is the difference from top to bottom right now.

Hurts took a step forward last season, but if Prescott gets back to 2021 with Cooks, CeeDee Lamb, and Michael Gallup, I agree with DLaw.

“I don't feel like it's a huge gap at all,” Lawrence told the Associated Press. “I feel like it comes down to certain details. Not just the scheme but also your locker room,

Dallas already has the locker room; we can only talk right now. (It is getting old).

Do what you need to do, Cowboys.
