Henry reveals regret about Norman stiff-arm

Derrick Henry had one of the most memorable four-yard rushes in recent memory Tuesday night when he stiff-armed Josh Norman into oblivion.

The play, which occurred with just over six minutes remaining in the second quarter, without question is among the highlights of the early 2020 NFL season. To wit:

The bruising Tennessee Titans running back, who previously credited “doing too many curls” for how he treated the Buffalo Bills corner like a rag doll, does have one regret from the phenomenal play, though.

Appearing Thursday on “The Dan Patrick Show,” Henry revealed that he lost track of where he was on the field while throwing Norman to the ground during the Titans’ 42-16 thrashing of the Bills.

“I was looking at (Norman), I was so focused on him when I stiff-armed him, by the time I realized where I was at, I was already on the sideline,” Henry said. “Didn’t even realize it. I was so caught up in it, I was right by my teammates on the sideline.”

Henry was asked by Patrick how he thinks Titans head coach Mike Vrabel would approach breaking down the play during a film session.

“I think he’ll probably say ‘We’ve all seen this, it’s all over the internet,” Henry said. “Continue to use it, but next time get more yards out of it.”

While that may be Vrabel’s thoughts on the play, it sure had an impact on Henry’s Titans teammates.

Interestingly enough, the brutal show of strength by Henry technically never occurred as the play ultimately was nullified by offsetting penalties. That means little in the grand scheme of things, however, as the NFL world is unlikely to ever forget what transpired Tuesday night.
