Despite loss to Eagles, QB Dak Prescott proved he isn't holding Cowboys back

Despite losing to the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday, Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott proved he isn't the team's weak link.

"What we learned is that Dak Prescott can show up in championship moments," ESPN analyst and Super Bowl champion Ryan Clark said Monday on "Get Up." "That Dak Prescott isn't going to be the reason this team doesn't have an opportunity to win a ring."

In the 28-23 loss, Prescott completed 29-of-44 passes for a season-high 374 yards, three TDs and an above-average 74.2 QBR. Although he stepped out-of-bounds on a crucial two-point conversion, that shouldn't detract from an excellent performance.

"A lot of good things came out of this game despite the loss," Prescott said in a postgame news conference. "We got close. We were doing things the right way. We've just got to get an inch here or an inch there. Make that difference, and we'll find a way to gain that."

The Cowboys (5-3) must solve their red-zone woes and reduce penalties to reach the next level. Dallas is tied for first in the NFL in penalties (60) and is 29th in red-zone percentage (43.8 percent).

Yet, if Prescott continues to flourish, it will mitigate the issues. The 30-year-old has been on a tear over the past three games, completing 72.2 percent of his passes for 950 yards, eight TDs, one interception and a 69.7 QBR.

Prescott's proving he's still a franchise QB, putting the Cowboys in a good position despite a disappointing defeat. The New York simulator notes Dallas has a 95 percent chance to make the playoffs.
