Doctor Provides Brutal Injury Outlook For Patriots’ Matt Judon
Rich Barnes-USA TODAY Sports

New England Patriots linebacker Matt Judon left his team’s loss to the Dallas Cowboys in the fourth quarter on Sunday due to a tear in his lower right bicep.

Unfortunately, sports medicine physician Jesse Morse has some bad news.

According to Morse, Judon’s injury is likely to be season-ending if it is a full thickness distal biceps tendon tear. Morse says that these types of injuries typically take 4-6 months to heal, with four months for unrestricted lifting.

Judon logged two tackles before exiting. Through four games in 2023 overall, he has totaled 12 tackles and four sacks.

The 31-year-old, who played his collegiate football at Grand Valley State, was originally selected by the Baltimore Ravens in the fifth round of the 2016 NFL Draft.

He had a relatively limited role during his rookie campaign but still made an impact, recording 27 tackles and four sacks in 14 contests.

The following year, Judon’s role grew and he answered the bell, finishing with 61 stops, 17 tackles for loss, eight sacks, two forced fumbles and a fumble recovery.

Matt Judon ended up making his first Pro Bowl in his fourth season after racking up 54 tackles, 9.5 sacks and four forced fumbles. That was the first of four straight Pro Bowl appearances for Judon between the Ravens and the Patriots. He joined New England in 2021.

The Pontiac, Mi. native has really broken out with the Pats, as he registered 60 tackles and 12.5 sacks in his first season with the club and then rattled off 60 tackles and 15.5 sacks last season.

New England has been struggling mightily over the first four weeks of the year. The Pats are now 1-3 and were blown out by the Cowboys to the tune of a 38-3 score. Quarterback Mac Jones was benched during the game.

The Patriots will attempt to get on track next Sunday when they host the New Orleans Saints.
