Dolphins give important injury update on Tyreek Hill, also lose key starter

The Miami Dolphins got a big scare on Monday night when superstar wide receiver Tyreek Hill suffered an ankle injury and was limited at times during the game. On Tuesday, head coach Mike McDaniel gave an update on Hill's status and said he's considered to be "day-to-day" with the injury.

That's good news for the Dolphins. Not only the best wide receiver in football this season, but with a real chance at 2,000 receiving yards, he might have a pretty strong case to be the league's MVP. When he's on the field, the Dolphins lineup takes on an entirely different look versus when he is sidelined.

The injury news was not quite as promising for center Connor Williams. McDaniel confirmed that Williams will miss the remainder of the season due to a torn ACL.

Between Hill's and Williams' injuries, Monday's game was costly for the Dolphins. That doesn't even get into the fact they blew a 14-point lead with less than four minutes to play in regulation. The Dolphins still have the top spot in the AFC East, but Monday's loss leaves the door open for a suddenly resurgent Buffalo Bills to catch them. Especially with a Week 18 game between the two teams looming on the schedule.

For as good as the Dolphins have been this season, there are some concerning flaws. The defense hasn't been consistent, they've struggled to beat top contenders for two years now, they won't have a key starting offensive lineman for the rest of the season and now their MVP candidate is dealing with an ankle injury.
