Eagles sign a two-time Pro Bowler to strengthen their run defense

The Philadelphia Eagles run defense just got some serious muscle up front.

Two-time Pro Bowl defensive tackle Linval Joseph is joining the Philadelphia Eagles on a one-year deal, per ESPN's Tim McManus.

Joseph brings experience and much-needed depth to the interior defensive line. He will replace rookie sensation Jordan Davis, who was placed on injury reserve after suffering a high-ankle sprain against the Pittsburgh Steelers on Oct. 30.

Since Davis' injury, the Eagles run defense has become the team's Achilles' heel. They've given up 320 yards and two scores over the past two weeks against the Houston Texans and Washington Commanders, who handed the Eagles their first loss of the season. Overall, the Eagles run defense has allowed 1,123 rushing yards and eight touchdowns so far, per NFL.com.

Joseph will shore up the run defense. He was drafted by the New York Giants in 2010 and spent the prime of his career with the Minnesota Vikings, earning back-to-back Pro Bowls there (2016, 2017).

Last season, Joseph, 34, logged 57 tackles and a sack with the Los Angeles Chargers.

The Eagles defensive line is loaded with talent: Fletcher Cox, Brandon Graham, Javon Hargrave, Josh Sweat and Robert Quinn. They've created a D-line rotation that keeps everyone fresh and happy with their snap count. Joseph will find a fit on the depth chart as a monstrous nose tackle who can stuff the run on first and second down so the pass-rushers can come in and wreak havoc on third.

Over 171 career games, Joseph has recorded 644 tackles and 25 sacks.
