Ex-Cardinals GM questions Kyler Murray's accountability

"I think in terms of QBs, what he said you don't love it," Keim said Tuesday on "The Herd With Colin Cowherd." "I'm not saying he's a guy that blames people. Yet at the same time, when you get that bag of cash, everybody expects you to take it on your shoulders, and that's what a franchise QB does."

While Keim served as Cardinals GM from 2013 to 2022, he selected Murray with the first overall pick in the 2019 NFL Draft. Last offseason, Murray signed a five-year, $230.5M extension. Afterward, he underwhelmed, posting a 3-8 starting record before suffering a season-ending ACL tear. Arizona finished with a 4-13 record, fired head coach Kliff Kingsbury, and Keim stepped aside for health reasons.

The rough season possibly formed a rift between the QB and GM since Murray hinted he felt a change was necessary.

"I feel free in a sense, especially with the change upstairs in the organization," Murray recently said, via the team's YouTube channel. 

Murray received what he wanted. Now, he must recapture his two-time Pro Bowl form. Otherwise, doubts about his future in Arizona will continue to grow. Per Seth Walder of ESPN, Arizona has the best odds to land the No. 1 pick in the 2024 NFL Draft. If this happens, the Cardinals could select USC's Caleb Williams to replace Murray.

Since Murray faces a tipping point, it's a make-or-break year for the 25-year-old.
