In today’s Fact or Fiction, I look at three big recent topics in college football and decide whether the statement is indeed FACT or if it’s FICTION.

1. Ed Reed can have Deion’s success.

Farrell’s take: FACT

Reed takes over at Bethune-Cookman and he will have the same success as Deion Sanders did at Jackson State — eventually. Bethune-Cookman is bad, really bad, and have been overmatched on the SWAC so he’s inheriting a 2-9 team. But the former Miami Hurricanes and Baltimore Ravens legend will bring talent with him as Deion did and have them winning after a season or so. While Sanders is a slightly bigger name, Reed has been a solid coach for years now and should light up South Florida with sleepers and some big names.

2. Florida State destroys Oklahoma.

Farrell’s take: FACT

I told you that Oregon State thumping Florida was a lock and this is just as easy to predict. FSU is trending up and everyone is excited about this bowl and that offense is a nightmare matchup for Oklahoma. The Sooners are missing many key players, can’t stop the run or the pass and just won’t be able to hang with the ‘Noles. FSU will absolutely run all over them, wear them down and win by possibly 30 points. Book it.

3. Ben Arbuckle is a sneaky good hire.

Farrell’s take: FACT

Washington State lost Eric Morris to North Texas, but I wasn’t overly impressed with how he developed QB Cameron Ward despite his familiarity with him previously. But I was impressed with this Arbuckle developed former D2 QB Austin Reed when he was at Western Kentucky and I think he’s a big get for the Cougars. The offense will be improved.
