The Dallas Cowboys brought in famous mentalist Oz Pearlman for a demonstration ahead of the team’s Sunday afternoon matchup against the New York Jets. Pearlman shocked Dak Prescott and the squad with his demonstrations, which included holding a hand over a flame and a card trick.

The mentalist had the room mesmerized when he was able to correctly predict how long Micah Parsons would be able to hold his hand over a flame on his second try.

After doing it for just five seconds on his first try, the star edge rusher went for 25.71 seconds on his second try, which is the number Pearlman had written on his arm, under his sleeve, ahead of the meeting.

The Dallas Cowboys are trying to stop the Jets from pulling out some tricks up their sleeve this weekend. Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers‘ Achilles injury on Monday night had, as expected, a major impact on the predictions for the Week 2 matchup.

Already favored by three points after taking down the Giants in shutdown fashion 40-0, now, the Cowboys are 8.5-point favorites at home in AT&T Stadium.

Cowboys expected to miss Brandin Cooks vs Jets

The Dallas Cowboys are expected to be without veteran receiver Brandin Cooks against the Jets on Sunday.

According to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, Cooks remains hampered by a knee sprain which kept him out of practice this week. With Cooks sidelined, the Cowboys will lean more heavily on Jalen Tolbert and KaVontae Turpin. Turpin had two receptions on three targets for 11 yards in Week 1. Tolbert failed to get on the stat sheet.

Acquired in the offseason from the Houston Texans in exchange for a 2023 fifth-round and 2024 sixth-round pick, Cooks made his Cowboys debut in the 40-0 Week 1 victory over the New York Giants. Cooks came down with two receptions for 22 yards.

The former Oregon State star came into the NFL after going in the first round of the 2014 NFL Draft (20th overall) to the New Orleans Saints. Since he’s been a reliable receiver who’s been looking for a permanent home in the league.

Before his trade from the Texans to the Cowboys, Cooks spent time with the Patriots and Rams. Over the course of his NFL career, he has 632 receptions for 8,638 yards and 49 touchdowns.

Along with Cooks, the Cowboys will likely miss offensive lineman Tyler Smith for the second straight week. Safety Donovan Wilson is also doubtful.
