Giants' Kayvon Thibodeaux disgusted by watching his rookie season film

The New York Giants had big expectations for Kayvon Thibodeaux after selecting him with the No. 5 overall pick in the 2022 NFL Draft.

In Thibodeaux's mind, he did not meet those expectations and on Sunday offered a very harsh assessment of his rookie season.

He said it "kind of disgusts" him a little bit when watching his rookie film, and that he gets a "little cringe feeling" as a result.

If nothing else, it shows that he holds himself to a really high personal standard because his rookie season wasn't that bad.

He may not have been an immediate superstar, but he definitely had moments of strong play and showed that he has the potential to be an impact player on the Giants' defense for years to come.

He finished the year with four sacks, six tackles for loss, 13 quarterback hits, five pass defenses, two forced fumbles, two fumble recoveries and a touchdown.

If those seem like pretty strong numbers for a rookie, it's because they are. In fact, most veterans would take that sort of season as well. And it was enough to earn him a fourth-place finish in the defensive rookie of the year voting behind Sauce Gardner, Aiden Hutchinson and Tariq Wooten. He was one of just six players to even get a single vote.

That sort of foundation, as well as what looks to be some pretty big personal motivation, could lead to a true breakout season for him in his second year.
