Giants release TE Kyle Rudolph, RB Devontae Booker

The New York Giants will be releasing Kyle Rudolph, the veteran tight end revealed in a social media post on Wednesday.

"Thanks to everyone in the building who took in and helped this old guy who needed to relearn everything about a new organization," he wrote.

Rudolph, 32, was signed to a two-year deal worth $12 million last offseason only for it to be discovered he needed surgery to repair a lingering foot injury. He went on to have one of the least productive seasons of his career, tallying 26 receptions for 257 yards over the course of the season.

As ESPN summarizes, the Giants will save $5 million by releasing Rudolph, "even if it includes $2.4 million in dead money."

In a text to ESPN's Adam Schefter, Rudolph revealed he does not plan to retire.

New York also released running back Devontae Booker, who averaged 4.1 rushing yards on 145 attempts last season. His release will save the Giants another $2 million, ESPN said.
