The Indianapolis Colts only needed to beat the 2-14 Jacksonville Jaguars to clinch a spot in the postseason. Instead, they were easily defeated 26-11 in Jacksonville, opening the door for a pair of other teams to have a chance at a wild-card berth.
The Pittsburgh Steelers and Baltimore Ravens both had long-shot clinching scenarios for Week 18 that required the unlikely result of the Jaguars beating the Colts. The beneficiary of the Jacksonville win ended up being the Steelers after they beat Baltimore in overtime, 16-13.
Pittsburgh has now all but clinched a spot in the postseason, only needing the Raiders and Chargers game to end without a tie.
For Jacksonville, the obvious negative of a win in the season finale was the possibility that it would cost the team the No. 1 pick in the 2022 NFL Draft. But thanks to the Detroit Lions' 37-30 win against the Green Bay Packers, the Jaguars secured the top pick anyway.
Trevor Lawrence starred in the win for the Jaguars, completing 23 of his 32 passes for 223 yards, two touchdowns and no interceptions.
