Jaguars release LB Kamalei Correa

Linebacker Kamalei Correa won't be returning to the Jacksonville Jaguars.

NFL Network's Tom Pelissero reported on Thursday that the Jaguars have released Correa, ending a tenure that lasted only a handful of games and that finished with far more questions than answers.

The 26-year-old signed a one-year contract last April to remain with the Tennessee Titans but requested a trade in October after he fell out of favor in defensive rotations. Tennessee dealt Correa to the Jaguars, and he played in six games with Jacksonville before he missed time due to what was referred to as a hamstring injury.

On Dec. 17, however, ESPN's Michael DiRocco reported that Correa left the Jaguars for undisclosed personal reasons. His last appearance with the club was during a loss to the Cleveland Browns on Nov. 29.

The Baltimore Ravens selected Correa in the second round of the 2016 NFL Draft, and he mostly underwhelmed in his two seasons with the organization before the Ravens traded him to Tennessee. He recorded a career-best five sacks during the 2019 regular season and added two sacks during the subsequent playoffs.
