Jets Agree To Restructured Deal With Key Defensive Piece
Vincent Carchietta-USA TODAY Sports

The New York Jets have opened more cap space by agreeing to a restructured deal with linebacker C.J. Mosley, according to Field Yates of ESPN.

Mosley was initially slated to earn $17 million in base salary next season, which carried a cap hit of $21.5 million.

Instead, the Jets stretched out Mosley’s contract over two years. It will be worth $17.25 million over that span, and the deal includes $13.25 million in guarantees.

Doing this will provide New York with $8 million in cap savings in order to help the Jets make some more moves in free agency.

Of course, it may be a little late now, as most of the top names have flown off the board, but there are still some players available who can absolutely help Gang Green in 2024.

Mosley initially signed with the Jets back in 2019, inking a five-year, $85 million pact with the club after spending the first five seasons of his career with the Baltimore Ravens.

He played in just two games over his first two seasons in New York, as injuries knocked him out for just about all of 2019 and he elected to sit out 2020 due to the pandemic.

Since then, however, Mosley has been a mainstay in the Jets’ linebacking corps.

The 31-year-old is coming off of a 2023 campaign in which he played every game and racked up 152 tackles, a half of a sack, an interception, a couple of forced fumbles, a fumble recovery and seven passes defended.

Two years ago, Mosley made the Pro Bowl after registering 158 tackles, a sack, a fumble recovery and seven passes defended. He also earned a Second-Team All-Pro selection.

The University of Alabama product made four trips to the Pro Bowl during his time with the Ravens, notching Second-Team All-Pro honors four times.
