Just wait, baby! Raiders DE Maxx Crosby could miss 'MNF' because of his special delivery

Legendary Raiders owner Al Davis had a famous catchphrase: "Just win, baby!" Now the Raiders are saying, "Please come, baby," because star defensive end Maxx Crosby is anticipating the birth of his first-born child.

Crosby's fiancée was supposed to give birth to their child, a daughter, on Monday. However, she's not here yet, which could affect Crosby's status for Monday, a road game against the Chiefs. The future father is a little wired, and rightfully so.

"It has gotten annoying everyday I walk in, 'is the baby here?'" Crosby said in a Wednesday news conference, per the Las Vegas Review-Journal. "Stop asking me the same damn question. You'll know when the baby is here!"

Crosby hasn't said what he'll do if the situation continues into Monday night. He has faith the baby will be born then, "because the universe works in mysterious ways."

In the meantime Raiders head coach Josh McDaniels, himself a father of four, has been giving Crosby tips, probably because he wants his defensive star to play.

"I was trying to tell him a few tricks the other day," McDaniels said in a Wednesday news conference. "I haven’t used them, but my wife has. When it’s time to get going, sit on the (yoga) ball and bounce and all that stuff."

McDaniels added he will have a plan if Crosby can't play, but he would like them to have "their celebration before (the Raiders) travel."

Crosby, a Second-Team All-Pro in 2021, will be a key component in pressuring Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes, who has thrown 22 touchdowns in eight games against the Raiders.
