Kyle Juszczyk Praises San Francisco 49ers Mentality in Win vs Lions
Darren Yamashita-USA TODAY Sports

The fantastic comeback mounted by the San Francisco 49ers is one of the most impressive in recent memory. Fans who watched the game on Sunday probably thought that the entire team was at each other’s throats, trying to hype themselves up against a spirited Detroit Lions squad.

However, one of the team’s key players revealed the surprising mood inside the team’s locker room that eventually helped turn the game around and get them to Super Bowl LVIII.

San Francisco 49ers’ Kyle Juszczyk: We were calm

Niners fullback Kyle Juszczyk made an appearance at the Pat McAfee show to shed some light on the situation in the locker room after trailing by 17 points at halftime.

The popular media personality wanted to know who spoke up during the break to get themselves back in order since they were facing the biggest points deficit in the history of the conference championships.

Juszczyk’s reply raised some eyebrows and gave a peek into the confidence the team had in each other:

“It was surprisingly calm in the locker room, especially on the offensive side,” the fullback said. “There wasn’t a lot of hoo-rahs, getting that group of people fired up. ”

He further explained that the team was confident they could come back into the game.

“It was still too early. We that if we kept it within three scores at halftime, by all means, we were in that game because we [knew] we could score a lot of points and we can score them fast. We just needed that spark,” Juzczyk reasoned.

Kyle Juszczyk was a reliable option for the San Francisco 49ers against the Lions, catching for 33 yards on two receptions and being an overall pest for the Lions defense.

Meanwhile the rest of the team also got to work. Brock Purdy was especially electric for the Niners in the second half, extending drives with his legs and making their right pass to push the ball forward. Christian McCaffrey was simply unstoppable for the Lions defense. George Kittle, Brandon Aiyk, and Deebo Samuel led an exciting receiving corps that got rolling as the game winded down.

Given how the San Francisco 49ers are now in the Super Bowl, the confidence the team had in the locker room was warranted. They will need that calm confidence against a Kansas City Chiefs team that steamrolled the entire AFC after starting the season on the wrong foot.
