Kyler Murray donates to child who lost family in Texas mass shooting

Arizona Cardinals quarterback Kyler Murray attended Allen High School in Allen, Texas. For the 25-year-old Murray, Saturday’s mass shooting at the Allen Premium Outlets that killed eight people hit home.

Multiple children were also among those killed. Murray took to social media on Saturday to express his dismay over what we’re seeing while offering his help.

“This is sickening. Prayers to the mass shooting victims in Allen, Texas. If there is anyway I can help those affected by this tragedy please let me know,” Murray wrote on Twitter. “When is this sh-- gonna stop?”

A 6-year-old boy by the name of William Cho remains hospitalized. He lost his 3-year-old brother and both parents in the mass shooting. The family had gone to the outlets simply to exchange some stuff William had received for his recent birthday.

Murray was made aware of a GoFundMe in the young boy’s name by David Hogg, who survived the 2018 mass shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Florida that killed 18 people.

Murray opted to do his part by donating $15,000 to William as he recovers. Murray is also looking to do more.

It’s not going to bring back the loved ones who were lost during the senseless mass shooting. It will not change the fact that William and others are going to be scarred for life.

But the ability of people to come together within a community to help can change things to an extent. That’s no truer than for William Cho, who has now seen people band together to donate $1.6 million in his name as of Tuesday night.

As for Murray and his hometown, it’s a tight-knit community with a population of more than 106,000. This obviously hit home for Murray.
