The injury Miami Dolphins rookie running back De’Von Achane suffered against the Houston Texans in Saturday’s preseason matchup has now been confirmed. According to Fox Sports senior NFL writer Armando Salguero, the former Texas A&M had to be carted off the field with a shoulder injury.

“RB De’Von Achane, who left the field on a cart this afternoon, had a shoulder injury. More info tomorrow after MRI, per Mike McDaniel,” said Salguero via X.

Unfortunately, the severity of Achane’s shoulder injury, or which shoulder is impacted by the injury, is still unknown. However, more information should be made available in the following hours as the Dolphins’ rookie is set to undergo an MRI scheduled for Sunday.

Achane’s injury was believed to have occurred during Miami’s third drive of the game. Ironically and unfortunately for Dolphin fans, that was the second injury of that drive as backup quarterback Skylar Thompson had to come off the field moments prior and head to the blue injury tint after being knocked to the ground and hitting his head awkwardly. Thompson was able to make his way back into the game after being evaluated.

Achane was able to walk to the blue medical tent and to the cart under his own power. Before heading back to the locker rooms for further evaluation, Achane was enjoying a solid performance in the Dolphins’ second preseason game. At the time he left the field, the former Aggie had recorded six carries for 27 yards, averaging just shy of five yards per carry.
