NFL adds insult to injury for Ravens veteran

The NFL has issued a $21,855 fine to Ronnie Stanley for an unnecessary roughness violation during the Week 15 matchup between the Baltimore Ravens and the Jacksonville Jaguars, according to the league’s accountability website.

It is the third time this season that Stanley has been fined for unnecessary roughness. His latest such violation occurred on running back Gus Edwards’ 20-yard run during the fourth quarter of the Ravens' win over the Jaguars. The veteran offensive tackle appeared to lower his helmet to block Jaguars linebacker Foyesade Oluokun.

Stanley was not flagged for the block.

To make matters worse for Stanley, he suffered a concussion on the play. He remained on the ground after the play, but he was able to walk off the field on his own power. Patrick Mekari went on to fill in for the one-time Pro Bowler at the left tackle position the rest of the way.

Ravens head coach John Harbaugh said after his team's road victory over Jacksonville that he believes Stanley "will be OK."

Stanley was cleared to take part in each of the Ravens’ three practice sessions ahead of their road contest against the San Francisco 49ers. He was ultimately not handed any game status designation for Week 16.

Stanley is slated to take hold of the starting left tackle role for the Ravens against the 49ers.
